Early Sunday morning in Houston, Texas, police officer Kevin Will was working a traffic stop on the side of the highway when a drunk driver struck and killed him. Officer Will leaves behind a pregnant wife and two children.
HPD Chief Charles McClelland says that Kevin Will also died a hero. Just seconds before he was struck and killed by Johoan Rodriguez’s car, Officer Will pushed another man out of the way. KTRH spoke to the Chief:
“The man heard the impact before he hit the ground,” says McClelland. “But he credits Officer Will with giving him the prior warning of yelling ‘Get out of the way!’ it actually saved his life.”
The tragedy of Officer Kevin Will’s death is compounded by the fact that his killer, Johoan Rodriguez is an illegal immigrant who had twice been deported, only to find his way back into the country. Will is also the sixth consecutive HPD officer to be shot or killed in the line of duty by an illegal immigrant.
I find it highly ironic that just one day after U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton enjoined the most important sections of Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration bill, S.B. 1070, the D.C.C.C. sends out an email, ostensibly from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to everyone on their mailing list with an offer to enter a sweepstakes where the grand-prize winner “could be part of our historic gathering in Los Angeles.” The fabulous package includes the following:
“(T)wo round-trip airplane tickets from the major airport closest to your address within the continental U.S. to Los Angeles, CA, one night’s hotel accommodations for two, and attend a dinner with special guest President Obama (approximate retail value $1,250).”
What’s so crazy about that, you ask? Well, the official rules state the sweepstakes are “only open to citizens of the U.S. and lawful permanent U.S. residents who are residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia and 18 or older (or of majority under applicable law).”
Here are the official rules as listed in the email:
There’s not much more I can say here or editorialize on than what Glenn says. I could have cut out the last part where Glenn poses questions about his own motives, but I wanted to leave it because I think the context is important. If Glenn is wrong, then he’s wrong and discredited. But if he’s right, then what? Then not only does it suck for Glenn, but it sucks for ALL Americans!
I agree with Glenn about this back-and-forth between Left and Right; all common-sense Americans should come together as one group, and ask our government about this man, Van Jones, along with the other “czars” or “special advisers” or whatever the Obama administration is calling these 32 people. We, as a free country, deserve answers to these questions. And only as one voice can we truly ask for and get the answers we need. I think the powers-that-be like it when we are at each others’ throats, so we all need to stop it – and work together.
It is, after all, our country that is at stake. It doesn’t just affect Republicans – it affects every American.
Why is this happening, when we didn’t even need to get to reason #45,386? This country has gone INSANE, and the people who elected Hussein Obama are responsible for this. Yes, GW wanted to do the amnesty program, but he was resisted successfully by we the people. However, the new DHS Chief has even claimed that crossing the border illegally is “not a crime, per se.” WTF is that all about???
