To Obama Our Troops Are Mere ‘Expenditures’ In His Budget

Like many others, I was disturbed by President Obama’s initial public statement about the Ft. Hood terrorist attack. You know, the one where the mention of that mass slaughter was preceded by a near 2-minute talk with a “shout out” to a group of Native Americans? Does he have that little regard for the soldiers who were slaughtered by an Islamic terrorist?

As I listened to him, I realized that what he was saying didn’t match…what he was saying. I think you know what I mean. It was the same measured tone with which he pretty much discusses anything, reading from the teleprompter or not. He shows no emotion, barely any inflection (unless he’s talking to an SEIU or ACORN crowd), and is just plain cold. I, for one, don’t buy the “soaring oratory” skills others ascribe to him. Anyway, back to my point.

Since he’s gotten the August assessment on Afghanistan from General McChrystal back in September, he has yet to make any other decision about what he’s going to act on, other than decide he wouldn’t decide for several more weeks. Why is he taking such a long time? His supporters are saying he’s being “thoughtful” and “thorough” about making that decision, but what about the guys on the ground now? They are the ones that need the backup! I guess he’s not too concerned about them, much less Gen. McChrystal’s request for 40,000 more troops. According to the assessment, McChrystal said “Failure to gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum in the near term (next 12 months) — while Afghan security capacity matures — risks an outcome where defeating the insurgency is no longer possible.” How much more dire of a warning could Obama have received.

Now today, even after his initial “benchmarks” including the election in Afghanistan, as well as much politicking back home about that monstrosity called a health-care bill, we hear that Obama is rejecting all current troop recommendations he’s received from his security team? He’s going to go back to square one? What the hell?

I have friends over there, and they’re getting really pissed off about this. They need help…they need boots on the ground so they can help secure the areas in which they operate, and train the Afghan troops and police so they can eventually handle it on their own.

After hearing an interview Obama did with Jake Tapper of ABC on Monday night, it struck me – I now know how he feels about our troops. He thinks of them as “expenditures.” Yes, think about that and let it sink in. He thinks of our troops as an asset that costs this country money. Money he doesn’t want to spend. What? Don’t believe me? I heard this clip on Rush’s show Tuesday, and Rush expressed his own outrage at it, but I didn’t put two and two together until this morning’s news about turning down all the proposed plans.

Here is a portion of the transcript of that interview. I want you to read and re-read Obama’s second point when answering Jake:

Jake Tapper says, “You are about to make a final decision about the new strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan. What variables play into your decision making that would cause you to not just take General McChrystal’s recommendation and implement it?”

OBAMA: These are not only eh, enormous burdens that we’re placing on our y-young men and women — and that’s the thing I think most about.

OBAMA: It’s also expensive.

OBAMA: Every thousand troops we spend that’s costing us a billion dollars. Uhh, i-if you send 40,000 troops you’re looking at maybe $50 billion per year above and beyond the costs that we’re already spending.

Are you kidding me? The “enormous burdens that we’re placing on our young men and women” is what he thinks about most? Does anybody believe this? My friends over in Afghanistan don’t believe him, and I damn sure don’t either. His real reason for not sending the troops is actually the cost. Our troops “cost” too much. Their safety “costs” too much. Our national security “costs” too much.

Mr. Obama, how much value do you ascribe to the troops that are already over there, and getting killed in record numbers? Do they have such little fiscal value to you that you won’t “spend” more “troops” (read = money) on them? Our guys are being ambushed, blown up by IEDs, and killed in raging gun battles, all the while you dither and ponder your political future. Obama, you have to know that a lot of Americans see and understand that you fear your political future over our troops, and we are beyond angry at this point. We, like the troops over there, are pissed off. Politics should never be your first order of concern when it comes to matters of our security or the support of our men and women who wear the uniform for this country. I used to think you merely had an abject disdain for them, but now it’s come to this: they’re just an “expenditure” which depletes money from your budget that you’d rather be spending on your Marxist agenda.

Mr. President, although you are the Commander in Chief of the most exceptional nation on this planet, that doesn’t mean you have to be an exceptional jackass. And yet that’s what we’re discovering you to be.

Elisabeth is BACK: Joy Shows Her Hypocrisy and Stupidity on Afghanistan & Obama’s Other Glorious Accomplishments (VIDEO)

by MsUnderestimated — Categories: Afghanistan, Liberal Bed-Wetters, Obama, The View, Video3 Comments

Wow… I’m sorry, but Joy’s ignorance is staggering. How to describe this video? How to explain her thoughts? I absolutely cannot find any words to express how dumb this idiot is.

P.S. Can someone please explain the stem-cell research issue to Joy? What actually happened AROUND that issue? She’s completely clueless. She seems to think that Bush took away ALL stem-cell research and that people have died in the interim because of that. Huh? The research was not dumped, Joy…federal funding (i.e. TAX-PAYER DOLLARS) for EMBRYONIC stem-cell research was what was changed. Get your facts straight. Stupid bitch thinks Obama’s “stem-cell” research policy change is one thing for which he does deserve the Nobel peace prize. Uh… yeah. Why does Joy feel the need to continually harangue the “religious right?” Doesn’t she know a large percentage of the left are religious, as well?

P.P.S. Barbara doesn’t expose herself as a mental giant either. Does Barbara know that Ford made profits because they DIDN’T take bailout money? Guess not.

Charles Krauthammer Scolds Obama on Afghan Policy Dithering (VIDEO)

by MsUnderestimated — Categories: Afghanistan, Military, Military Support & Patriotism, Obama, Video4 Comments

Tuesday night on the Special Report panel, Charles Krauthammer weighed in on Obama’s dithering on Afghanistan while our troops are left to wonder what their mission is, fighting druglords, and wondering why their Commander in Chief won’t send them backup while they are dying in record numbers.

Obama, you’re really pissing me off with this one. I have friends in A-stan and they REALLY need backup! They dare not speak aloud of their disapproval of you, and that is another factor that feeds their frustration. At least Bush had the balls to stand behind our troops. You, sir, don’t have the nutsack to do what is right and necessary, as requested by your hand-picked commander, Gen. McChrystal. You told a bunch of Navy men & women in Jacksonville this week that you wouldn’t put them in harm’s way until it was absolutely necessary.

Hey, B-Ho… do you even know what our military men and women understand about their service? How many of those men and women at that event that day were secretly dying inside WANTING to be sent over there to help their brothers and sisters? You have absolutely no clue about the American military’s code of honor, and you are selling them short. They WANT to be in the fight, and they want to protect their own – something you obviously don’t. I’m beginning to believe, B-Ho, that you have an abject disdain FOR our troops! If you don’t, it damn sure seems like it. Unfortunately, they are paying the price for your political pandering and indifference for them and their families.

You are not fit to command a troop of Boy Scouts, much less the mightiest and finest military in the world. This is a FAIL of epic proportions, and I’m ashamed you are my president. You have the blood of many of our countrymen on your hands. How have we gotten to the point where our elected commander in chief has become a clear and present danger to this country? Obama voters acted stupidly.

And, no, there will be no ‘beer summit’ for you.

Wounded Warriors Return to Iraq for a Bit of Closure & Camaraderie (VIDEO)

Recently on Fox News, Julie Banderas featured a special segment of wounded warriors who returned to Iraq for a homecoming, of sorts, to try and find some closure of their time in the battle. What a touching story this was, and what a reminder it is that we owe our very freedoms to these men and woman so we may enjoy the lives we are currently living.

Let’s pray we can keep this Republic and keep the enemies at bay. God bless our military men and women, those who’ve served in any theatre, at home and abroad.

Why is MJ’s Death More Important Than Army Lt. Brian Bradshaw’s? It Isn’t. (VIDEO)

Today on the Glenn Beck show, Judge Napolitano, sitting in for Glenn, brought up this very sentient question: Why is this singer’s death more important than that of our military men and women who give their lives to protect this very country, which Jackson so freely enjoyed? Answer: It’s not more important. And shame on the media for not doing their job.

On June 25th, Army Lt. Brian Bradshaw was killed in Afghanistan by an IED, and his aunt wrote an op-ed piece for the Washington Post asking the “why” of the importance question. Lt. Bradshaw was one of 13 servicemembers who gave their lives for all of us since that date, and they should be equally memorialized.

My nephew, Brian Bradshaw, was killed by an explosive device in Afghanistan on June 25, the same day that Michael Jackson died. Mr. Jackson received days of wall-to-wall coverage in the media. Where was the coverage of my nephew or the other soldiers who died that week? There were several of them, and our family crossed paths with the family of another fallen soldier at Dover Air Force Base, where the bodies come “home.” Only the media in Brian’s hometown and where he was stationed before his deployment covered his death.

I remember Brian as a toddler wandering around in cowboy boots and hat, not seeing the need for any other clothing. He grew into a thoroughly decent person with a wry sense of humor. He loved wolves and history. Most Christmases, I gave him a biography or some analysis of the Civil War. He read such things for pleasure.

He had old-fashioned values and believed that military service was patriotic and that actions counted more than talk. He wasn’t much for talking, although he could communicate volumes with a raised eyebrow.

He was a search-and-rescue volunteer, an altar boy, a camp counselor. He carried the hopes and dreams of his parents willingly on his shoulders. What more than that did Michael Jackson do or represent that earned him memorial “shrines,” while this soldier’s death goes unheralded?

It makes me want to scream.

I know and I realize that journalism/television news is a business and has to make a profit, but there has to be some point in time where ratings be-damned, a network says “enough” of this crap. They may suffer ratings from celebrity-obsessed nitwits in the short-term, but in the long-term, folks will start to realize what real news is. And they’ll also begin to shun fake news that has very little merit past a 5-minute segment on “Celebrity XYZ Died Today.”

Shame on ALL of us for fomenting that celebrity culture. I pray each and every day that we as a nation and culture can overcome this.
