Bret Baier Makes the Warrior 100K Bike Ride With George W. Bush & Some Wounded Warriors (VIDEO)

From the Warrior 100K Ride homepage:

As part of the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Social Enterprise Initiative, the Warrior 100K Bike Ride highlighted the bravery and physical strength of the warriors wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, as well as those organizations that have made continuing commitments to supporting America’s heroes.

The three day event provided an opportunity for military support organizations to highlight their good work and was sponsored by several companies and individuals that have generously contributed their time and resources to support America’s servicemen and women.

Fox News’ Bret Baier joined along in the ride, and reported back on this fantastic cause and the ride itself. Some of the heroes in the story were U.S. Army Specialist Juan Carlos Hernandez, Army Sgt. Major Chris Self, Marine SSgt. Andy Hatcher, Army Sgt. Sam Cila, and Army Specialist Jacob Lerner. The ride took place from April 25th to the 27th of this year.

This bike ride was through the desert southwest part of Texas, and by all accounts was a grueling trek. But even though some sustained damage to their prostheses, or were injured during the ride, there wasn’t a single one who complained. I love to see W. interact with our troops…the relationship is obviously a warm one, and the friendships are felt both ways.

I really admire President Bush and, even more, our heroic men and women in the military who have sacrificed more than most of us can imagine. I hope you all took a few moments of your holiday today and this weekend, and said some prayers and thank-yous to all of them.

By the way, there are many other videos you should check out over on the 100K ride page.

God bless he U.S.A.

Greeting America’s Returning Heroes in Bangor Maine (VIDEO)

On tonight’s edition of Follow the Money on the Fox Business Network, Eric Bolling featured a group of real American heroes and patriots who, year-round, stand at the ready to greet America’s Military heroes as they return home, flying into the airport at Bangor Maine. The “Maine Troop Greeters” are the focus of a movie called “The Way We Get By,” which is based on their experiences greeting the troops as they return home from the Middle East.

What a heart-warming story. And what dedication! This group is ready round-the-clock, with an early shift that gets to the airport for the first flight of each day.

BONUS: Check out the trailer for this movie. If you don’t at least get a lump in your throat, you ain’t human.

I just went and bought the Collector’s DVD & music CD at the movie’s official website. I’d like to see it in wide release in theaters.

Huckabee & Josh Revak, Paying Tribute to the Troops on Memorial Weekend (VIDEO)

Mike Huckabee had return guest, Josh Revak, on the show this weekend to play his tribute song for the Shane Woods Memorial Purple Heart Hunts, which take wounded warriors on big game hunts in Alaska. The fund was named after his close friend, Shane Woods, who was killed in the Iraq war. Shane grew up in Alaska, and these hunts help wounded vets transition back to civilian life, letting them feel once more like warriors.

The song he performed this weekend was one called “Sandcastles,” which he and his friend 1st Sgt. Aaron D. Jagger wrote together for a memorial service in Iraq. Before they could write another song together, Aaron was killed in an attack which also injured Josh, but Josh survived – Aaron didn’t.

100% of the proceeds for the music at JoshRevak will go to the Shane Woods Memorial Purple Heart Hunts. Please go listen to the songs there and download one or two.

Laura Bush on the Oprah Show Today (VIDEOS)

Laura Bush is one classy lady. She and her daughters are still public treasures. God bless the Bush family. All three of them appeared on Oprah today to discuss the release of Laura’s Memoir “Spoken From the Heart” which is out today.

Like I said, this family is one class act. The whole Bush family is extremely gracious. Do you think the current FLOTUS tries to sneak out of the White House to go to Target? Do you think the current First Family pays for their own meals? I’ll leave that question open for you. Regardless of all that, I truly miss George W. Bush as President, and I miss Laura and their daughters.
