Hey, folks, it’s been a grueling 24 hours so far, but there’s much more ahead. I’m on bloggers’ row for the conference, and hopefully I’ll be able to snag a couple of interview later today. Scheduled speakers for this conference include:
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, Author and Fox News Contributor Dick Morris, Radio Host and Conservative Commentator Herman Cain, the Wall Street Journal’s Stephen Moore and John Fund, and AFPF’s President Tim Phillips.
George Will will deliver the Keynote Address, and many more exciting events are planned for the evening. Stay tuned!
UPDATE #1 3:11 PM: Just got back from our GA delegation lunch, at which we were blessed to have Herman Cain come in and say a few words. Tim Phillips (President of Americans for Prosperity), Virginia Galloway (GA State Director), AFP Founder David Koch, and Joel Aron Foster (GA Grassroots Coordinator) all participated in the address, as well. Best news of all? A hint from Herman Cain that he is seriously considering a run for President in 2012! Wow!
After the lunch break, we all attended the first Opening Session and Kick-Off Spears, which included:
Governor Bob McDonnell of Virginia
Dick Morris, author and Fox News contributor
Herman Cain (the “Hermanator”)
Tim Phillips, President of AFP
Phil Kerpen, Vice President of AFP, and
Dallas Woodhouse, Director of NC AFP chapter
Herman was the last speaker, and he raised the roof! My new friend, Jeff Breedlove of We Are Politics, says he counted at least four standing, ROUSING ovations for Herman. I’m telling you, he electrified the ROOM. All the delegates from every state were obviously quite impressed by this man from my home state, and I just sat smiling, knowing that finally Herman’s becoming more and more well known, and soon these folks will realize what I’ve known all along – Herman is the real deal. When I first saw Herman Cain speak, it was at the very first Fair Tax rally in Gwinnett County, GA. That man near had folks speaking in tongues, I swear!
UPDATE #2 4:50 PM: Just got a visit from Michelle Bachmann! She was very sweet and just as warm and kind as you would imagine. She thanked us bloggers, telling us it was us who are being the most effective as the frontline spreading the conservative message. She also said that there will be a Congressional Townhall Meeting at the base of the Washington Monument at 1:30 PM. Bachmann said that her office paid for event, and it would be attended by other members of Congress, as well. She encouraged us all to attend and bring others to join right after the “Restoring Honor” rally was over.
UPDATE #3 5:17 PM: Wow! What a surprise! Herman Cain just left Bloggers Row, and not only did he allow many pictures to be taken, he actually gave a sit-down interview with us, as a group, asking different questions. He was very generous with his time, as well as his wisdom. He gave us all several things that he would do immediately IF (and he says he’s still in “prayerful consideration” – wink) he were to be elected to get this country back on track on the REAL road to recovery! I’m telling all my readers – watch for more national interest to be focused on Herman Cain in the future – he’s a SuperStar! Just ask anyone who was here and listened to him, and they will tell you. And he will most definitely be a force to be reckoned with, if he does decide to run. I’ve got the video of his entire stay with us, and will post it and the pictures as soon as possible.
Follow me on Twitter for small bits of news as they happen.
Stopping for a while to take a break, awaiting the “Tribute to Ronald Reagan” dinner, featuring George Will and Michele Bachmann, among others. Stay tuned!
