As you all know who have been reading (or trying to read) my blog lately, I have been suffering from several things: On a brief hiatus; recovering from a debilitating health problem; having problems with bad HTML codes; experimenting with new themes for customization (with as little of a financial impact on me as possible, which is very key); and a slight burnout on these embarrassing weeks of GOP on GOP in-fighting.
I gotta tell ya folks; this kind of reminds me of something a friend of mine recently went through. She and her siblings agreed to meet with their now-divorced parents for dinner. While at the restaurant after exchanging shallow pleasantries, her parents began immediately engaging in loud and boisterous arguing about what the other had done wrong in the marriage. Dad was yelling at mom, and mom was yelling at dad, and it wasn’t meant, quite clearly, to bridge any relationship gaps that had formed since their divorce many years ago.
Today’s Glenn Beck show was a very somber yet thought-provoking one. Living, breathing, sentient beings are turning against one another, and for stupid, idiotic reasons. Since when did we think it was good for the Republic that we be fighting amongst ourselves, instead of uniting together again like we did on 9/11 & 9/12/01?
Unfortunately, our priorities are all fouled up. The man-on-the-street interviews done by many TV hosts show the sad state of intellect and knowledge that is going to be the death of this country if we don’t wise up.
Glenn makes a great point about this very subject. Why is it that “The Jersey Shore” has record-breaking ratings for MTV, yet most of the viewers of these shows cannot name many elected officials when shown their photos? Why do we ALLOW ourselves to become so focused on the “Entertainment Tonight” shows of the world, yet refuse to pull our heads out of our asses long enough to at least pay attention to some of what’s going on in the real world?
Last night, Bill O’Reilly was the one-on-one interview for Bill Maher’s HBO show “Real Time.” You have to give it to O’Reilly – he can play on any turf he’s on, and generally seems to get along with even the lefties, although they definitely have differences. Bill O seems to have a sort of air of respect that he both gives and gets, between jabs (listen for the “seals” comment – LOL).
This was classic Rove, and classic Schieffer, insofar as Bob picking and choosing what parts of a study and/or facts to include in a Q&A session. I don’t agree with everything Karl Rove does or says, but in this case, he’s spot on. And what does Bob do? Three times he says “let’s go back to my original question.” Excuse me, Bob, but some pretty formiddable and uncontrovertible facts were just thrown in your face, and you act like you didn’t hear them?
MY GOD, this man is pathetic. Face the Nation is an out-dated program with an out-dated anchor, and both should be put out to pasture to live out somewhat normal lives as they nurse their apparent Alzheimer’s.
