EU Parliament Member, Daniel Hannan, Gives Amazing Speech at 2012 CPAC (VIDEO)

I know I’m a couple of days behind on the CPAC stuff, but this is a must-see video, so if you haven’t seen it elsewhere already, you must see it now! Thanks to the great folks at The Right Scoop for capturing this. Trust me, you will not be sorry…and I know you will share it with your friends and family (at least I hope you will).

I wonder if there’s any way we could get Mr. Hannan to relocate to the U.S. and run for office here? I know he can’t be President, but surely he could replace somebody in this government. At least he has a deep love, respect and admiration of the U.S. Constitution and our Founders…that would be a nice change of pace from the current crop of politicos who seem to have forgotten their oaths of office, and appear to not have any desire to uphold our Constitution. I don’t think Mr. Hannan would have the same problems respecting our Founding documents.

As a side note, I have a personal “wish list” of people that I’d love to see debate Barack Obama; if, for no other reason, than to see Teh Won get KO’d even trying to debate. Just for sport, you know. Who’s on my “Dream Team” of debaters? Allen West, Marco Rubio, Daniel Hannan, Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Paul Babeu, just to name a few. Would make a HELLUVA bank on Pay Per View, right?

How Rick Santorum Helped Save the Life of Another Special-Needs Child

A friend of mine from work passed this story along to me today, as she knows I’m a Rick Santorum supporter. My co-worker’s husband is an old high school friend of Brad Smith, the father featured in this story, whose daughter was also born with the same genetic disorder as Sen. Santorum’s daughter, Bella Santorum: Trisomy 18. From the story in the U.K. Daily Mail:

When a Michigan family was looking for answers to help their sick daughter in 2010, the last place they expected sound medical advice was from a man who would one day be running for president.

But Brad and Jesi Smith found answers from then-Senator Rick Santorum to help their then 22-month-old daughter Faith.

The smiling brunette girl suffers from the same genetic disorder – Trisomy 18 – as Mr Santorum’s youngest daughter Bella.

Brad & Jesi Smith With Santorum

The Rochester Hills, Michigan family told the Detroit Free Press about their incredible encounter with Mr Santorum two years ago, and the advice the family claims saved their daughter’s life.

When Faith was born, doctors said the outlook was bleak. She was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a genetic disorder that causes heart defects, kidney problems, delayed growth, and a small head.

Mrs Smith, a radio station sales manager, told the paper that one doctor told her to put away funds for the funeral, as most children die either in infancy or as a toddler.

‘I said, absolutely not, I’m saving for her wedding,’ she told the Detroit Free Press.

After switching hospitals to the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, prognosis looked better, as doctors were eager to learn from the case.

In the spring of 2010, the Smiths were looking forward to meeting with Mr Santorum, as he was the only person they knew with a child who suffered from the same disease.

They spoke with him about their daughter Faith, and he showed them an article he had written on his BlackBerry about his own daughter Bella. His wife Karen talked to them throughout his speech that evening, the Detroit Free Press said.

But seven months later, Faith’s health was declining. By chance, Mr Santorum was in town for an unrelated fundraiser and came into Mr Smith’s radio station to tape a show.

Mr Smith approached Mr Santorum, asking his advice for his sick daughter. According to Mr Smith, the senator said they needed to get Faith tested for sleep apnea – where someone stops breathing in their sleep – and get her a breathing machine.

He said that sleep apnea was particularly precarious for Trisomy 18 children.

Mr Smith expressed his doubts, and said Mr Santorum then got stern, saying: ‘Look, you need to do this. If you don’t, you’re going to lose your daughter.’

This is truly heart-warming, and I urge you to go read the whole story at the Daily Mail. I think it also speaks volumes that Mr. Santorum hasn’t tried to use this to his advantage, and I would have probably never known about this had it not been for my co-worker sharing this with me.

Rick Santorum is the real deal, and this is just further reaffirmation for me that I’ve made the right choice in backing him in the 2012 primary.

I want to end this with a beautiful pic of him and his beautiful daughter, Bella.

Rick & Bella

What a wonderful family, and a very special dad.

Stossel Talks With Gary Sinise About His Work With the Troops & How 9/11 Affected Him (VIDEO)

This weekend on John Stossel’s show, he talked with Gary Sinise about all the philanthropic work he’s done with the troops, as well as the patriotic themes often seen on his hit show “CSY: NY.” Gary Sinise is one fantastic American, and I never knew just how many groups he was involved with until I saw this special with Stossel.

Honestly, when does this man sleep? Either way, I salute Gary Sinise and thank God for giving us such a special human being to look up to. If each of us could only give a 10th of what Gary Sinise gives to our fellow man, the whole world would be a brighter place.

Raid on On Osama’s Compound First Reported on Twitter

Drudge didn’t have it first. CNN didn’t have it first. Fox News didn’t have it first. Who was the first to report on the raid on the Pakistani compound where Osama bin Laden was sent to take his eternal celestial dirt nap? A local IT consultant did, that’s who. The story broke as Sohab Athar, the IT consultant who was living in Abbottabad, Tweeted about helicopters swarming overhead and a “window-shaking bang” at around 9pm last night.

Here’s the rest from the UK Daily Record:

Mr Athar, believed to be living near to bin Laden’s compound, wrote his first tweet at about 9pm last night, when he noticed a helicopter.

He then wrote: “A huge window-shaking bang here in Abbottabad Cantt. I hope it’s not the start of something nasty.”
He later added: “Since Taliban (probably) don’t have helicopters, and since they’re saying it was not ‘ours’, so must be a complicated situation.”

The realisation hit him at about 6am today as he wrote: “Uh oh, now I’m the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it.”
Under his username ReallyVirtual, he later added: “Interesting, I didn’t think my name would trend on Twitter before releasing a couple of rock albums and a few award-winning software.”

I wonder how long it will take before @ReallyVirtual eclipses Lady Gaga in number of followers.

Oh, and it can’t be said enough…. I LOVE ME SOME NAVY SEALS!
