It's just that the people representing you in our government are in the minority. It's Democracy at work. From 2000-08, you did not oppose big government or unsustainable spending. You actually supported both without any restrictions. Also, as a member of the middle class, I never consented to my earnings being confiscated and redistributed to the richest 1% of the country for eight years - but it happened because that is what the Republican party believes in. They have you voting against your own self interest by distracting you with abortion and illegal immigrants (despite never actually passing any laws against either) under the guise of patriotism. The health care reform bill cuts 800 billion off our deficit (your taxes) in just ten years if we continued to do nothing. The cost of the Iraq war you supported stands at 1.25 trillion tax dollars.
