        your site is one of my favorites. i can check on the heartbeat of what is left of the conservative movement. every time i come here i am hoping to see a glimmer for the future of your party and have yet to see any inkling that you understand what has happened, why republicans are where they are and how you will recover. so far, zilch on new ideas and no chance of winning voters back. if nothing changes, the 2010 senate elections are going to be very ugly for republicans. at this point, your best hope is come sort of high level democratic scandal, because on your end, you have done nothing short of using ALL CAPS to earn the support of independent voters.

    This Administration and Pelosi have now created an environment where we can start our own betting pool. I'll lay my entire life savings down that Pelosi will be asked to resign. I'll set the odds at 99 to 1 and I will bet on the 1 and win!

    If Pelosi knew about the torture and did nothing, and that is a crime, she should be held accountable. If the people in the Bush Administration like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, the lawyers, and the CIA authorized torture, which is a crime, they should be held accountable.

    See when this happens, it's putting your country first, then your political party, not the other way around. Republicans always put their party ahead of the country and supporting blanket immunity for the torturers is just the latest example. That is just one of the ways you handed over the country to the Democrats. People realized you were in it for YOU and had stopped listening to THEM.

    Let me ask you all this – Do you think Cheney would agree to an investigation and criminal prosecutions if Pelosi was investigated too?

    When the domestic wiretapping story broke a few years ago, what did the people in charge (Republicans) and their supporters (now 20%ers) say- “If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about”

    So why are you worried?

    Like your slightly cross-eyed hero Glenn Beck says as part of his 9/12 group “I believe Justice is Blind”

    If Justice is Blind and things are as you say, Cheney and Bush have nothing to worry about. They will be found not guilty and their legacy will not have “convicted” in front of it in the history books.

    The fact is, waterboarding isn't “torture” (its done routinely to American soldiers for training purposes), and there is a considerable amount of legal opinion saying it isn't illegal either.

    If the current administration wants to ban any form of coercive interrogation (including waterboarding) via executive order as a matter of policy, it can do so, but such a ban doesn't retroactively make a legal act performed six years ago illegal.

    If Pelosi is “guilty” of anything here its simple hypocrisy, namely knowing all about the alleged “torture” but never speaking out nor lifting a finger to stop it, while after the fact decrying anyone who approved it as a criminal to score cheap political points.

    Now the woman who is the nominal face of the Democrat Congress, the one who explicitly promised America “the most ethical Congress ever” is caught lying about what she knew with her hand in the proverbial cookie jar.

    Is it any wonder the country can't trust the Democrats on national security?

    If I were a Democrat, I'd be pretty angry at the Speaker right now.

    She's an embarrassment, not only to her party, but to the country.
