What Really Counts As a Waterboarding? (VIDEO)

Tonight on Special Report, the topic of enhanced interrogation techniques were discussed, primarily waterboarding. Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA’s Bin Laden Unit, describes correctly how waterboarding is defined. Everybody is all up in arms about poor little Kaleid Sheikh Mohammed being waterboarded ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-THREE TIMES! Oh, my, how awful! /sarc

But what they don’t tell you is that every single time water is dripped or poured over the subject’s head and/or face is considered a “waterboarding.” So when KSM was “waterboarded,” that doesn’t mean he had 183 separate sessions of waterboarding; it means that water was dripped, poured, or put against his face and/or head 183 times. Yes, you read that right. Each application (not session) was considered to be one waterboarding.

Having said that, and watching Scheuer describe this, it still wouldn’t be enough to extract whatever info necessary from KSM even if it WERE 183 individual separate sessions of waterboarding. American lives were at stake, as well as lives of our allies around the world, and our guys did the right thing. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise.
