Obama was singing to the proverbial choir today, as the Dems enjoy their posh retreat in Virginia.

Members of Congress were quick to shame corporate executives for over-the-top extravagance during the economic crisis, flying private jets and taking luxury junkets. But some lawmakers are strolling fancy resorts spending tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars and mingling with lobbyists.

“We’re very mindful” of perceptions, House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson told reporters Thursday camped outside of the sprawling Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Va., where House Democrats spent about $100,000 on their three-day annual retreat. “It’s serious and it’s from morning till night. We’ve been dwelling, rightfully, on the economy,” said Larson, D-Conn.

Yeah, dwelling over mojitos and jello shots? I’ll tell you what’s “serious” and going on from “morning till night.” That would be the open bar tabs.

How many homeless people were invited? How many “victims” of foreclosure were invited? Okay, I give up. I’m probably pissing into the wind with those questions. Can you say “hypocrisy?”

Republicans and Democrats in the House have passed new rules governing such trips even as lawmaker say the events are useful for negotiating public policy. But with a nation tightening its belt and already fatigued by stories of corporate excess, perceptions matter these days in Washington. Congress risks shattering its glass house throwing stones.

“If it’s a luxurious setting or if there’s particularly high level entertainment, then they are running into the same problem,” said Meredith McGehee of the Campaign Legal Center, a government ethics watchdog group. “They don’t get that these are tough economic times, that Americans are struggling and they need to do their part.”

Did anybody else notice that Obama ADMITTED in his own words that this is NOT a stimulus bill, but a spending bill? Nobody has the legitimate reason anymore after this to say we’re using talking points; Obama says it is a spending bill. And he got his jabs in at “some cable” media blah, blah, and blah, and there’s one point where I can faintly hear one voice yell out “FOX NEWS” in the audience.

Lastly, after watching the videos while editing it occurred to me that this was more like a campaign speech. Does he know that he’s no longer running? He IS POTUS. But damned if you could prove it by me. He’s being lead around by the nose by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. He’s been AWOL on this whole bill, and even had his own “My Pet Goat” moment with Michelle, reading books to school children, to “get away from” all the stress and gnashing of teeth over this pork-filled bill. In fact, Obama told the school children “We were just tired of being in the White House.” Oh, really? Joking? Maybe. Frightening? Definitely. Hoping he means it and will bow out before it’s too late for our country? OH, HELL YEAH! I’m in for that one!

Folks, tonight it’s official – I have reached saturation point on Obama-love from the media. Is it possible to O.D. on Obama? If so, the MSM is a bunch of junkies.

It’s only 2-weeks-old, but the Obama presidency is already proving to be an unmitigated disaster.
