Tonight, Barbara Walters interviewed Rush Limbaugh as part of her “10 Most Fascinating People” special.
She harps on Rush’s new contract, and asks him if he is worth his $40+ million contract and $100 million bonus, to which he gives a resounding “of course!” This question was posed in the context of the current recession, inquiring if Rush is “recession proof.” Barbara gets a little testy, too, when he unabashedly declares his absolute love of Sarah Palin, to which Barbara remarks that she “didn’t seem informed.” He asked how so… from one interview? I truly think she was befuddled by his upbeat, unflappable attitude…and it looked like she wasn’t too keen about it, seeing as how she started out the intro to his segment as someone who came out on the “losing side of this election.”
Is it just me, or does it appear to be a ‘coincidence’ there’s a mirror moving around in the background behind him where, on distance shots, you can see the back of Rush’s head and his bald spot? Hmmm.. something to wonder about. And Barbara… I have to correct you on one thing. You said Rush was the “most powerful and successful conservative radio talk show host in the country;” hell, Barbara, he’s the most powerful and successful talk show host PERIOD! Nobody on the left even comes close to him. Always gotta get those digs in there, too, don’t you? Lastly, she does go, as do all good little liberal journalists, into his past drug addiction. Very predictable and tedious.
As an aside, you must all have known beforehand that her “secret” #1 most fascinating person of 2008 was none other than the Chosen One, Barack Obama. Seems she didn’t feel so compelled to say one thing about his admitted past cocaine and marijuana abuse now, did she?
I’m certain it was just an oversight. /sarc
