Michael Steele Schools Maher Panel (VIDEO)

Former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, former White House spokesman Scott McClellan, and some chick who I didn’t know, were on the panel tonight. Michael Steele schooled them all. Scott the “turncoat” hardly ever spoke, but when he did he smacked the current administration. Steele schooled the whole lot of them on Sarah Palin, McCain, the Republican Party, and the RNC’s view of Obama (the Messiah).

Watch it all unfold here and here.

  • Michael

To be honest, Steele was contradicting himself; first he said you can't put being a community organizer as a qualification for the job of president, but when talking about Palin, he said her experiences as PTA-member (or leader?) and coach prepared her for the job of VP. WTF?

If people want to dismiss Obama's community organizer experiences, they should also dismiss Palin's coaching experiences… and really, is mayorship of a 6000-people city really that much more sophisticated and complicated than being a community organizer?

      Michael:

Thank you. Your observation, of course, merely states the obvious (except to those specimens to whom objectivity is a wholly alien concept). You're much nicer than I am.

And, again, please note that what MY comment addressed wasn't the supposedly-arguable merits of Obama's organizing works. Steele wasn't even attempting to tackle that simple task. No; Steele is so lazy — and the head-nodding among members of the Great [Unwashed] Old Party is so reflexive — that all he was doing was implying what he assumed to be a point taken for granted among the “base” (apt term): That Obama opened the door to criticism, because HE chose to “describe” himself as (i.e., properly list as part of his curriculum vitae) the fact that he was a community organizer. The unstated assumption was that such positions are: (a) Ridiculous; and (b) Partisan.

Lazy, specious, code-using mental midgets — such is the Republican party of the past 28 years or so.

    “Schooled them”?

He calls someone who's not even barely qualified “very well qualified”. He defends childish disparagement of community organizing (by the now-always-childish Rudy Giuliani) by saying that that's how Obama “described himself”. Well, yes. Obama chose that job over the high-paying law firm job he could have accepted. He was, yes, a community organizer for a time. Steele defended Giuliani (and the morons lapping up his speech) as though Obama had “described himself” as a sex offender . . . and therefore opened the door for mockery and contempt.

Does the former mayor of one of the world's largest cities not know what community organizers do? Or is he really content to feign ignorance, and pander to the truly ignorant?

Steele implied that Obama's work had been partisan. Really? What evidence is there of that? Working full-time to build a party, or against a party, or for or against a slate of candidates, is partisan. Is working to empower the poor, the homeless, the un- and under-employed, the uninsured, “partisan”?

    Jeee-sus.

Steele only schooled those, who were not already familiar with it, in the decades-long GOP specialty: Disinformation, disingenuous and specious generalization, and plain old shameless demagoguery.

Ah, those lovely Democrat talking points have served you so well. “He chose being a community oganizer over blah, blah, blah.” He did what he did for political expediency, as it's done with all politicians, so don't ascribe some self-sacrifice bullshit to the Marxist Obama.

    • Jeff Glick

I see that you can't defend Steele's sophistry, so you pose as a mind-reader instead.

What selfless things have YOU ever done? (Paid for the chips at your last NASCAR-watching party?)

    • Jeff Glick

      Oh, and:

Since when are the plain, unvarnished facts “talking points”?

      “Marxist”. Brilliant.

If we ever had a real Marxist get anywhere close to being a viable candidate for public office, the horseshit-repository you use as a head would explode.

      • http://MsUnderestimated.com MsUnderestimated

We DO have a Marxist candidate running for President, and my head does feel like it WILL explode of all of the idiot myrmidons stop going “baah, baaah, baah,” and wake up. But unfortunately, they are just part of the dumb masses. (Yes, I said “dumb masses.”)

        • Jeff Glick

Yoor artikyoolut as all hell . . . lyke Dubya.

No more pearls before swine for me; signing off.

          Best of luck, America.

Oh, by the way: Why'd ya assume I'm a Democrat? (Was it 'cuz making assumptions, being effortless, is your stock in trade?) Oh, and — the adjective is Democratic, not “Democrat”, my dear Ms. Dittohead.
