Those Who Understand Service (VIDEO)

This clip is from a show called “Detroit SWAT” that airs every Thursday on A&E at 10pm EST. It originally began as “Dallas SWAT” and is now evolving into a show that will highlight different SWAT units for a short series. All that aside, the video below shows a Detroit SRT (Special Response Team, a.k.a. SWAT) member gearing up to go into a situation with a barricaded gunman, having just left his daughters’ birthdy party. He, not unlike many men and women overseas, is going into a dangerous situation and leaving his family behind, albeit for a short while. Yet, as he’s gearing up to go in, he takes a moment to reflect on how lucky he is.

Our men and women who serve on America’s streets every day know perhaps only a 10th of what our military men and women know and experience, but they understand it and respect it all the same. Neither the cop nor the soldier know for sure if they’re going to make it home at the end of the day, and they both deserve our gratitude. This is a great show, and I encourage all of you to watch it every week.
