Good & Bad Highlights From the Emmys (VIDEOS)

August 28, 2006 Breaking News, Hollyweird, Jack Bauer, Video View Comments

Okay, so I’m a day late, but a few bucks ahead (instead of a ‘dollar short.’) I have this thing called a day job, you know, so I didn’t have time to edit all of these clips last night. So, here we go. I’m sure you all have seen the clip most likely at HotAir of the Conan tasteless parody of “Lost,” with the plane crashing – on the day that 49 people were killed on the ComAir flight out of Kentucky, so I won’t post that one. Here were just a few other notable moments from the Emmys:

For Best Writing For a Variety, Music or Comedy program, they showed substitute images of people or animals for the real writing teams for the respective shows. Yes, it was humorous to an extent. But, the writing team images for “Real Time With Bill Maher” was represented by all conservative figures. Are you surprised that Bill O’Reilly’s photo represented Bill Maher? Slam? I don’t know. I’ll let you watch and be the judge. I’ll have to look more into the names Maher put with the Conservative, GOP and Fox faces.

Then there was the category of Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. Of course, the shows featured were Conan O’Brien, Steven Colbert, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and a few others. The majority of the choices of clips for this evening? You guessed it – almost all were Bush-bashing.

Watch that video here.

There was talk around the radio shows and blogs today about a segment where Conan dissed Fox news for fake news, and it took me FOREVER to find it in the recording, but I finally did. H/T to the Political Pit Bull for the video. (Please visit the Political Pit Bulls video of this – I only edited and posted mine because it took me almost 2 hours of freezing, fast-forwarding and rewinding to find the damn thing, so I posted it!)

You can view that video here.

Now, to my favorite moments of the evening. The only patriotic moment I could find in the whole broadcast was when Edie Falco and James Gandolfini from The Sopranos, presented an award. They started out by saluting our brave men and women in uniform serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m surprised there weren’t jeers, but I just found two new stars who I will seek out in the future as those who I will watch with unabashed appreciation. They did this in a denizen of democratic devils, and I’m hoping they won’t suffer reprisal. Either way, they have my consumer dollars from now on. We vote with our dollars, and I’ve long given up on other Hollyweirdos, so it’s nice to see this on a night of obvious Bush-bashing.

Falco & Gandolfini – Patriots

Here’s the video clip of that.

Now, this is my true hero – Kiefer Sutherland, a.k.a. “Jack Bauer.” Honestly, because the show “24″ portrays a postiive result of tough-talk and direct action against terrorists, PC be damned, I’m very surprised, yet pleased, that this not only won Best Lead Actor for Kiefer in a Drama series, but it also won the Best Drama series category; the pinnacle of all the awards. “24″ is just too good for people to ignore, and now it’s going into its 6th hour (season) come January. Kiefer even thanks Fox for being so good to work with.

That’s our Jack Bauer!

Watch that clip of Kiefer here.

I know, I know… why did I even watch? It’s my job to watch, and take one for the team, so to speak. However, as in two examples above, there are some diamonds among the lumps of coal. I am mining for those, and when I find them, I share them with you.

Also following this are HotAir and Political Pit Bull. More to follow, I’m sure.

Gandolfini is still "Allowed" to be patriotic by the liberal establishment because he's Italian.

This is something minorities don't get in America I'm afraid. They don't understand that the "Rules Change" when it's nothing but white people around - specifically if it's nothing but white liberals. You aren't allowed to be either religious OR patriotic. If you do you're met with scorn.

I have a very good black friend who's a liberal and is also very religious. I told him that was the way it was one time and I actually think I shocked him a bit. I told him straight up that around white liberals he was "Allowed" to be religious because he was black (they wouldn't look down on him or judge him), but that if I tried that around the same people they'd basically treat me like a bigot.

I think it helped put things in perspective for him. The only reason white liberals don't judge black people for being religious is becuase they "expect less" of minorities. In a liberal's twisted mind you're "Stupid" if you're religious or patriotic, but at the same time they don't expect much from minorities because they're a bunch of closet racists. That's why as long as minorities tow the line politically they ignore the evidence that they are "Stupid" according to their own warped standards.
