While I disagree with the comment posted by JOYCE, as per my remarks above, I can see your point..and can agree that the rainbow graphic of the LAPD logo is perhaps going too far. But my basic thought is...if LAPD can find fit athletic types willing to serve the city/community as cops, and can pass the physical and academic standards, who really cares whether they sleep with men or women? The candidates that are into Bondage or children would concern me far more, as wel as those that have NO Apparent emotional or sexual needs...

Dear Joyce: Maybe I am missing something. Recruitment of gay/lesbian police officers by the LAPD, is proable not only the legally correct thing to do, may even be court mandated for diversity compliance issues, and I would submit is the correct thing to do as well. Being Gay or Lesbian, or bisexual, or even straight and gay-friendly, or whatever other possible preference that may be both at the Gay games in Chicago AND interested in law enforcement and public service, would seem to be a good place to recruit. WHAT the hell? How does the idea of recruitment of (gay) athletes give you rise to make a comment like "weaker cops?' You prefer, perhaps, the (equally erroneous) fat white guy cop coming out of Dunkin Donuts as the best option to combat gang violence? PM

This is sick. Just what we need here in Los Angeles...weaker cops. The gangs will just love this.
