0 – 14,000 MPH in 7 Minutes, 57 Seconds (VIDEO)

July 4, 2006 True Heroes, Video 2 Comments

Wow! This was truly a marvel to watch. The STS-121, Space Shuttle Discovery, had a very successful lift-off today from Cape Canaveral. I’ve recorded the whole thing, from lift-off to the Shuttle shedding the fuel tanks. I can’t really add anything, but I’ll post a few pictures, too.

The video was over 12 minutes long, and I didn’t want to ruin it by making it low-res, so I’ve split it into two parts. Absolutely spectacular! Happy 230th Birthday, America!

An afterthought: I do have to say that even before that midget, maniac gargoyle running N. Korea had flexed (or tried to) his missile-muscle, I did have a very scary thought when I saw our beautiful Discovery going into the air… “what if some lunatic from another country would try to strike the shuttle while it’s still close enough?” Then, the News Alert came, and I got shivers. The gargoyle did it. But thankfully he wasn’t completely successful. I think he did it symbolically not only for our Independence Day celebration, but also to coincide with the shuttle launch. If he would have succeeded in hitting our astronauts’ vehicle, you can rest assured that Bush would have ordered immediate strikes on that midget, and nobody could have blamed us.
