Jimmy Smits at the ALMA Awards (VIDEO)

Well, who would have expected different. The ALMA Awards tonight on ABC were sponsored by NCLR, a.k.a. “National Council of La Raza” (National Council of the Race). Here’s a clip from Jimmy Smits accepting an award for his performance in “The West Wing.” Notice his hand gesture. Oh, yeah… he reminded us of the cries of “si se puede.” I USED to like NYPD Blue, but now?…. *sigh*

    Isn't that the same hand gesture used to denote “Black Power” back in the late 1960s and into the 1970s? Yep. I guess a good racist gesture never goes out of style, huh?

    It's also a gesture that “La Raza” members use, as well as some of the old Vatos Locos (pre-gang signs).
